With spectacular views of Grotto Beach visible through every window and imposing mountains as a backdrop, it sure was a pleasure to go to the ‘office’ every day while working on this project. Since this was a renovation, the owners were closely involved every step of the way. Their input was especially important since the entire home, from the street level to the upper viewing deck, had to be wheelchair-friendly.
This house is a striking example of modern architecture and form indeed follows function in all of its carefully planned living areas. The use of geometric shapes and concrete inside is echoed on the outside. The clean lines of the crisp white concrete outer walls is offset beautifully by timber cladding that also forms an accent on the roof slab viewing deck. Large windows let in lots of natural light and the addition of artwork and other personal touches brings warmth to the space.
